점유율·생태계·신제품 모두 ‘휘청’…위기 정점에 선 ‘혁신의 아이콘’ 애플 |

글로벌 스마트폰 제조사 애플이 올해 들어 줄곧 악재에 직면하고 있다. 주요 시장인 중국에서 점유율 3위로 추락한 데 이어, 올해 초 출시한 혼합현실(MR) 헤드셋 ‘비전 프로’도 기대에 못 미치는 실망스러운 성적을 내고 있다. 미국·유럽 규제당국이 ‘애플 생태계’를 향해 반독점 칼날을 겨누고 있는 점도 불안 요인이다.
23일(현지시간) 카운터포인트리서치에 따르면 애플의 1분기 중국 시장 매출은 전년 동기 대비 19.1% 감소했다. 2020년 이후 최악의 실적이다. 중국 시장 점유율 또한 지난해 1분기에는 1위를 차지했으나 올 1분기에는 비보·아너에 밀려 3위로 떨어졌다.

화웨이가 빠르게 치고 올라온 탓이다. 화웨이 스마트폰 판매량은 전년 동기 대비 69.7% 급증했으며 시장 점유율은 1년 전 9.3%에서 15.5%로 뛰어올라 4위를 기록하며 애플의 턱 밑까지 다다랐다. 지난해 8월 출시한 프리미엄 스마트폰 ‘메이트60’의 인기가 아이폰15을 제쳤다는 평가다.
중국은 애플에게 미국 다음으로 큰 시장이다. 지난해 4분기 애플 매출의 약 17%가 중국에서 발생했다. 그러나 최근 화웨이 등 토종 브랜드들의 약진과 애국소비 현상으로 인해 애플 매출은 감소세를 걷고 있다. 팀 쿡 최고경영자(CEO)가 판매량 회복을 위해 수차례 현지를 방문했지만 역부족이었던 것으로 보인다.
아이반 램 카운터포인트리서치 수석연구원은 “애플이 공격적인 판매 활동을 펼치고 아이폰의 새로운 색상 옵션을 제공함으로써 2분기에는 브랜드를 긍정적인 영역으로 끌어올릴 수 있을 것”이라고 전망했다.
